Dr. Rebecca B. Raby
Dr. Rebecca Raby has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from David Lipscomb College (now Lipscomb University) and a medical degree from the University Of Tennessee College Of Medicine in Memphis, TN. Prior to attending medical school, she was employed as an Actuarial Assistant at National Life Insurance Company in Nashville, TN. After graduating from medical school, she completed a pediatric residency at the University of Tennessee/LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital followed by an Allergy and Clinical Immunology fellowship in the same location. Her fellowship training in allergic and immunologic disorders was broad and in-depth and conducted under the tutelage of nationally and internationally well -known and highly respected professors in their fields. She became certified by the American Board of Pediatrics at the completion of her pediatric residency. Upon finishing her fellowship, she obtained board certification by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology which she has maintained throughout her career.
After completing fellowship training, Dr. Raby moved with her family to Huntsville in 1996 to be near extended family living in north Alabama and middle Tennessee. She was initially employed in a satellite office of a Birmingham-based practice. In 1998, she founded her own thriving solo private practice, subletting office space for almost four years from Huntsville Lung Associates. The practice was renamed Allergy, Asthma, and Clinical Immunology Specialists, PC when Dr. Raby relocated to the present site at 4021 Balmoral Drive in 2002. She is an active member of many professional societies at the local, state, regional and national level including the Madison County Medical Society and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. As a member of the Alabama Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, she has served as secretary/treasurer, vice-president, and president. She is a fellow of both the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American Board of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. Dr. Raby serves as assistant professor of the volunteer clinical faculty at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Huntsville campus and is active in the training of both medical students and residents. Her board certification in Allergy and Immunology, which is a conjoint board of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Internal Medicine, qualifies her to treat patients of all ages who suffer from asthma, allergy-related disorders, or primary immunodeficiency disorders. Through the years she has lectured on many topics related to her specialty and has authored publications in textbooks and professional journals.
Dr. Raby’s leisure time activities and interests are numerous. She and her husband have three children and have spent many hours enjoying spending time with them and encouraging their endeavors as they have grown. The Drs. Raby are active members of Mayfair Church of Christ. Dr. Rebecca Raby serves in the women’s ministry and both have been supporters of the church youth group for many years as teachers, chaperones, “gofers”, etc. Both Dr. Raby and her husband have had repeated opportunities to serve on medical and evangelical missions to countries in Central America. They are supporters of several philanthropic organizations. It is Dr. Raby’s pleasure to serve as a volunteer physician and a member of the board of The New Hope Children’s Clinic. The Drs. Raby are longtime supporters of the schools their children attend, the local visual and performing arts community, as well as the Botanical Gardens. Dr. Raby is an avid reader of classic literature, pop fiction, and contemporary media. She enjoys traveling with her husband, family, and friends; going to movies; collecting art; antique shopping; walking and hiking; cooking; and needlework,when she has the time.
